When I created the Core Tweaks setup plugin for WordPress, we were using several great plugins on every site, so with the authors permission, we built them into our system and have kept them updated.

However, there have been so many improvements to the way that WordPress works, that some of them are obsolete. So, due primarily to the the lack of author support, effective Tuesday February 26th, 2013, we are no longer going to include these three plugins:

  • Post Teaser:  Post Teaser generates excerpts of your posts for the main, archive, and category pages, gifing you customizable snippets in the admin, along with shortcodes for estimated word count, image count, and reading time, etc. With no updates since 2010, it’s being removed for security reasons
  • Page LinkExclude any pages you wish from main navigation. Still amazing for older style themes, this plugin is obsolete for 2011, and the WordPress Twenty-Ten default theme. Instead, use the built in WordPress custom menu options.
  • Page OrderAgain, an amazing plugin that was ahead of its time, made obsolete buy custom menus. For themes that dont support WordPress menus, either get a new theme or try this…

While these plugins are no longer being included, no existing websites that are using the plugin will be affected, since we are not removing any files, so there’s nothing to worry about…

All three of these plugins were absolutely great, but it’s finally time to move on…
