Support Core Tweaks Plugin Support Static page

Hi, just install the core tweaks plugin. Not sure if its working.

I set , Change the default page name from "about" to: Home

Selected, Set the default page above as the front page.

Would this make my home page a static page? and if so, when i post to a category that post should not be on the page correct? For some reason it did post to the home page.

I have no plugins active other then Core Tweaks, using wordpress 3.1.3. Any thing i should be looking at?

It sounds like you did everything correctly, and the answers to your questions are yes, and yes. If true, then this is odd, but easily remedied, and I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Just go to your Settings > Reading - and correct / choose the appropriate page to show as your home page and the page where you wish to have the posts display, and save. That should take care of it…

Thanks for your reply. In settings / reading this option wasnt available before, strange how it reappeared. Quick question, this may not be something you could answer but i'll throw it out anyway.

Currently i'm using a custom link (category) for my home page. Can i make that the static page or do i need to create a "PAGE" for my home page. Also, how would i link my index url to this home "PAGE".

As far as I know, only a "page" can be set as the actual home page, although you could create a custom menu item called "Home" and have it point to wherever you want – like your category page.

Then, to get the desired for effect for new visitors to your domain going right to that category, you could do a 301 redirect from your actual home page to that category page, but that sounds really messy, and I'd be inclined not to want to do that…
