This was going to be the development blog, where we tracked changes to the program, tracked improvements, and posted user feedback while working the bugs out but it didn’t work out that way. Most of the work was done here via chat, and until someone develops a plug-in that automatically posts chat transscripts as they happen (hey…) the speed of the progress accomplished was such that we just couldn’t be bothered by having to make posts. I hope you like what’s here… |

Scott; you knew I could not resist checking a site I have. I only checked the front page. Your tool said I had 2 critical and 9 other probs. Funny stuff indeed since the front page and others are positioned on page one for most ALL phrases it wants to be… even some fairly competitive ones.
Not really the tools fault however as I have not found one tool out there that could mirror a brain yet. Whenever a tool can do as good as a brain, I’ll buy it.
Anyway; I disagree with the 10 phrase thang for keywords per page. I disagree with the h1 and h2 tags as well. I disagree with the google site maps statement. Yes; there were a few statements I did agree with, but overall, …. I disagree. Sorry.
Sorry to not respond Doug - someone else approved this comment while I was out of town and I just noticed it.
Actually, I respect your disagreement on the keywords, and i’ve just stuck to using it for years now, and continue to recommend 30 seconds to pop in a few relevant phrases.
You’re definitely right to say it’s not really “critical” and I’ve adjusted the feedback to say so.
But for you to say that “overall you disagree” sounds pretty shortsighted. With what else could it possibly be that you disagree?
You don’t think header tags are a ranking factor anymore, huh? Interesting. There are others that agree with you that they’ve lost some value, but I have to disagree.
Why would someone NOT want to put relevant headlines on a page? I believe in designing a page for the reader, not just the search engine, and taking the easy way out and not adding keyword or header tags seems lazy.
The fact is, these on page factors are likely under 20% of the equation anyway, and inbound links matter far more. SEO isn’t rocket science, and this tool just looks faster than a human can at about 23 known and accepted facts about the page - nothing more.
I never said that a site couldn’t rank for its chosen keyword unless you got a perfect score here - so whats your beef? Or, is this just more of the Doug Heil movement, with you being controversial for no good reason?
