WordPress automatically saves pages that you edit, allowing you to go “back in time”, if you will, and while that’s a great feature, it can lead to problems.

We add and remove things from our free toolbar all the time, but recently we had a lot more changes than usual, so I thought I’d wrap them up in a post.

Google Tools:
We were forced to remove the “Google looking” G from the Google tools menu item. 

This is just the sort of thing that’s revolutionizing our jobs, isn’t it? I just tested this out on my laptop, because it has a built in camera, and it worked well, although it’s not very intuitive yet.

I need to warn you about our experience with a product called EZ WP Cloner, distributed by Kenneth Reno and Oliver Bowen.

We’ve long looked for a way to easily, reliably, and efficiently move and backup WordPress sites, and after I found an absolutely fantastic WordPress cloning product in November, we abandoned development of our own.

Our full version of the SEO Automatic iPhone app has been available for sale since October 2010, but Apple has for some reason, made it “unavailable for purchase” since early February, and our support tickets to them have gone unanswered.

Yesterday WordPress released a security patch that fixes a huge vulnerability that they discovered in the code, so we pretty much dropped everything, and did nothing but upgrades all day.

We had a couple of users report that when they ran a report in the URL review tool, and then RE-ran the same “printable version” that it was subtracting an extra credit from your account.

Cloning, moving, backing up or copying WordPress sites is critical, and we’ve used several different methods over the years.  Getting the sites, databases, and files copied and safely stored elsewhere has been possible, but it’s always been a somewhat complicated process, especially the “restore” process.
